The story behind The Golden Boy
The Golden Boy was created by chef Robbert Jan de Veen at restaurant De Daltons in Voorthuizen, the Netherlands.
The burger was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the most expensive hamburger in the world.
Priced at €5000 and consisting of 148 ingredients, The Golden Boy quickly attracted international media attention.
But the story actually began many years earlier.
As a child, Robbert often browsed through the Guinness World Records books owned by his grandmother. The extraordinary achievements fascinated him from an early age.
Years later, he decided to pursue a record himself.

Official Guinness World Record
On June 28, 2021, The Golden Boy was officially presented at restaurant De Daltons in the Netherlands.
The burger was recognized as:
Most Expensive Hamburger (single portion)by Guinness World Records.
Setting the record required an extensive verification process.
This included:
- independent witnesses
- an official adjudicator
- live verification
- detailed photographic documentation
After reviewing all submitted evidence, Guinness World Records officially confirmed the record.

148 ingredients
The Golden Boy combines some of the most luxurious ingredients in global gastronomy.
Among the most notable ingredients are:
- Japanese A5 Wagyu
- Beluga caviar
- Alaskan King Crab
- Paleta Ibérico Bellota ham
- White truffle
- Wyke Farms truffle cheddar
- BBQ sauce with Kopi Luwak coffee and Macallan whisky
- Dom Pérignon champagne onion rings
- saffron champagne bun covered in gold leaf
Despite the luxury ingredients, the concept remains simple.
A burger should still be eaten with your hands.
Because the bun is covered in edible gold leaf, guests literally end up with golden fingers.

A world record with a purpose
The first Golden Boy burger was sold on June 28, 2021.
The burger was purchased by Remia and eaten by Robert Willemse, chairman of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland.
The full €5000 from the sale was donated to the food bank.
This contribution helped provide over 1000 food packages for families in need.
